Free Language Translator - Free download and software reviews. Free Language Translator works well enough as a translator, but it doesn't have many benefits over the great online translators available. In most cases, it actually just borrows from Google Translate, anyway. Even though it doesn't boast great looks or many customization options, the program can be proud of its speedy performance. Free Language Translator supports a little more than 6. You can import any amount of text and get a translation almost instantly. You can use Google Translate or the program's built- in dictionary, but both give you about the same accuracy level. Once you've translated your text, there isn't much you can do with the program other than check the accuracy of the translation and add corrections to a custom dictionary, which, we must admit is a neat feature. The program's layout looks a little dated, but it gives you plenty of space to see your translation and type. Using the Setting menu you can change the font and keyboard layout, check for updates, and watch two available tutorial videos. In addition to copying text into the program, you can also input several popular document and subtitle formats such as DOC, TXT, HTML, and SRT to get a quick translation. Since Free Language Translator borrows heavily from Google Translate, it comes with a catch: You need to be connected to the Internet at all times to be able to use it. Great Pacific garbage patch - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The area of increased plastic particles is located within the North Pacific Gyre, one of the five major oceanic gyres. It is located roughly between 1. It consists primarily of a small increase in suspended, often microscopic, particles in the upper water column. Discovery. The description was based on results obtained by several Alaska- based researchers between 1. North Pacific Ocean. Extrapolating from findings in the Sea of Japan, the researchers hypothesized that similar conditions would occur in other parts of the Pacific where prevailing currents were favorable to the creation of relatively stable waters. A leaking garbage disposal can be a major headache, but it's not too difficult to fix. Here's a video with instructions on how to fix a leaking garbage disposal. How to Repair a Badger Garbage Disposal. A jammed Badger garbage disposal does not mean you have to hire a plumber. Because people accidentally drop things down disposals all the time, Emerson Appliance Solutions designed the. They specifically indicated the North Pacific Gyre. Moore, returning home through the North Pacific Gyre after competing in the Transpac sailing race in 1. Moore alerted the oceanographer. Curtis Ebbesmeyer, who subsequently dubbed the region the . The gyre's rotational pattern draws in waste material from across the North Pacific Ocean, including coastal waters off North America and Japan. As material is captured in the currents, wind- driven surface currents gradually move floating debris toward the center, trapping it in the region. There is no strong scientific data concerning the origins of pelagic plastics. Fix Garbage Disposal Leak Near Flange. So now you can see we've got this flange loosened up and we'll pull it right out. How to Fix a Garbage Disposal: Leaking Garbage Disposal About Home Follow us: We deliver. The figure that an estimated 8. Debris is generated on land at marinas, ports, rivers, harbors, docks, and storm drains.
Debris is generated at sea from fishing vessels, stationary platforms and cargo ships. Most debris consists of small plastic particles suspended at or just below the surface, making it impossible to detect by aircraft or satellite. Instead, the size of the patch is determined by sampling. Estimates of size range from 7. Texas) to more than 1. Pacific Ocean), or, in some media reports, up to . Further, although the size of the patch is determined by a higher- than- normal degree of concentration of pelagic debris, there is no standard for determining the boundary between . The plastic debris sampled is determined by net mesh size, with similar mesh sizes required to make meaningful comparisons among studies. Floating debris typically is sampled with a neuston or manta trawl net lined with 0. Given the very high level of spatial clumping in marine litter, large numbers of net tows are required to adequately characterize the average abundance of litter at sea. Long- term changes in plastic meso- litter have been reported using surface net tows: in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre in 1. Similar dramatic increases in plastic debris have been reported off Japan. However, caution is needed in interpreting such findings, because of the problems of extreme spatial heterogeneity, and the need to compare samples from equivalent water masses, which is to say that, if an examination of the same parcel of water a week apart is conducted, an order of magnitude change in plastic concentration could be observed. The survey also confirmed that, although the debris field does contain large pieces, it is on the whole made up of smaller items that increase in concentration toward the Gyre's centre, and these 'confetti- like' pieces are clearly visible just beneath the surface. Although many media and advocacy reports have suggested that the patch extends over an area larger than the continental U. S., recent research sponsored by the National Science Foundation suggests the affected area may be much smaller. As a result, it is one of several oceanic regions where researchers have studied the effects and impact of plastic photodegradation in the neustonic layer of water. This process continues down to the molecular level. As it disintegrates, the plastic ultimately becomes small enough to be ingested by aquatic organisms that reside near the ocean's surface. In this way, plastic may become concentrated in neuston, thereby entering the food chain. Some plastics decompose within a year of entering the water, leaching potentially toxic chemicals such as bisphenol A, PCBs, and derivatives of polystyrene. In a 2. 00. 1 study, researchers (including Charles Moore) found concentrations of plastic particles at 3. Assuming each particle of plastic averaged 5 mm . Nonetheless, this represents a very high amount with respect to the overall ecology of the neuston. In many of the sampled areas, the overall concentration of plastics was seven times greater than the concentration of zooplankton. Samples collected at deeper points in the water column found much lower concentrations of plastic particles (primarily monofilament fishing line pieces). Midway Atoll receives substantial amounts of marine debris from the patch. Of the 1. 5 million Laysan albatrosses that inhabit Midway, nearly all are found to have plastic in their digestive system. ECC collaborates with other groups to identify methods to safely remove plastic and persistent organic pollutants from the oceans. In August 2. 00. 9, two project vessels, the New Horizon and the Kaisei, embarked on a voyage to research the patch and determine the feasibility of commercial scale collection and recycling. Their primary goal was to describe the abundance and distribution of plastic in the gyre in the most rigorous study to date. Researchers were also looking at the impact of plastic on mesopelagic fish, such as lanternfish. Goldstein, Marci Rosenberg, and Lanna Cheng wrote: Plastic pollution in the form of small particles (diameter less than 5 mm) . They are known to interact with biota on the individual level, e. One potential mechanism for microplastic- induced alteration of pelagic ecosystems is through the introduction of hard- substrate habitat to ecosystems where it is naturally rare. Here, we show that microplastic concentrations in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre (NPSG) have increased by two orders of magnitude in the past four decades, and that this increase has released the pelagic insect Halobates sericeus from substrate limitation for oviposition. High concentrations of microplastic in the NPSG resulted in a positive correlation between H. The dynamics of hard- substrate- associated organisms may be important to understanding the ecological impacts of oceanic microplastic pollution. Calling his project The Ocean Cleanup, he proposed to use surface currents to let debris drift to specially designed arms and collection platforms. Operating costs would be minimal and the operation would be so efficient that it might even be profitable. The concept makes use of floating booms, that divert rather than catch the debris. This way bycatch would be avoided, although even the smallest particles would be extracted. According to Slat's calculations, a gyre could be cleaned up in five years' time, collecting at least 7. The company sent crews to Hawaiian beaches to recover some of the debris that had washed up. The main purpose is to educate people about the garbage patch. The 2. 01. 2 Algalita/5 Gyres Asia Pacific Expedition began in the Marshall Islands on 1 May, investigated the little- studied Western Pacific garbage patch, collecting samples for the 5 Gyres Institute, Algalita Marine Research Foundation and several other colleagues, including NOAA, SCRIPPS, IPRC and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. A similar research expedition was conducted by SEA in the North Atlantic Ocean in 2. During the Plastics at SEA 2. North Pacific Expedition, a total of 1. It was the first of a series of events under the patronage of UNESCO and of the Italian Ministry of the Environment. A general overview is provided in Dautel, Susan L. For this and what follows, see Moore (2. Moore (2. 00. 9), which includes photographs taken from the patch,^Day, Robert H.; Shaw, David G.; Ignell, Steven E. Final Report to US Department of Commerce, National Marine Fisheries Service, Auke Bay Laboratory. For example, plastic entering the ocean in Japan is moved eastward by the Subarctic Current (in Subarctic Water) and the Kuroshio (in Transitional Water, Kawai 1. Favorite et al. In this way, the plastic is transported from high- density areas to low- density areas. In addition to this eastward movement, Ekman stress from winds tends to move surface waters from the subarctic and the subtropics toward the Transitional Water mass as a whole (see Roden 1. Because of the convergent nature of this Ekman flow, densities tend to be high in Transitional Water. Superman Is an Arab Joumana Haddad $19.95 BC Out of Stock - Order Now (usually dispatches in 7 days) This is not a manifesto against men in general. Nor is it a manifesto against Arab men in particular. It is, however, a howl in the face of a particular. To discuss the issue of the patriarchal system that continues to dominate in the Arab world and beyond, Sean Rose speaks to Joumana Haddad, a Lebanese poet and journalist. She is also the author of 'Superman is an Arab'. FRANCE 24 INTERNATIONAL NEWS 24/7 http://www.france24.com. Haddad, the award-winning poet, literary translator, publisher and journalist, wrote: “Superman is an Arab — on God, Marriage, Macho Men, and Other Disastrous Inventions.” The unconventionally long. Joumana Haddad's book 'Superman Is An Arab' lampoons gender politics. Anyone who has come across the Lebanese polemicist Joumana Haddad will know that when she calls her new book Superman Is An Arab, it's not meant as a compliment. After all, this is the woman whose last book, I Killed Scheherazade: Confessions of an Angry Arab Woman, sold thousands of copies across the world when it came out three years ago, while sparking threats of violence and hate mail, which she still receives regularly. Translated into 1. Arab women to change their lives but, oddly enough, it was also seized upon by western women. But when I travelled around the world, women in France, Germany, Italy and Latin America came to me and said they were feeling the effects of this macho, patriarchal society, too. That's the beauty of literature, isn't it? You think your problem is specific but, perhaps, it's universal. Somehow, she makes the serious issues of Arab gender politics great fun. I wake up every day as if I'm going to war. I face so many challenges and frustrations, which many other women do. But having grown up in a country torn by civil war, I understood that you have to make fun of what is most painful to overcome it. Among her various interests, she edits the cultural pages of An Nahar, the Arabic daily newspaper, teaches at university and does consultation work for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction - all in a country that she believes hates her. Why compare ourselves to worse countries? Why not feel inspired by countries that have gone farther in the fight for women's rights? It's about laws that don't protect me from violence or rape. She's not about to start suggesting her books can change the world. But the letters of support she receives every day give her hope. But many Arabs - men and women - feel like I do, that people should be able to express themselves freely in whichever way they choose. I don't think mine is a lonely voice in the wilderness. It's just that my 'microphone' works. But being brave here would cost me what I cannot afford. Joumana Haddad is a voice rarely heard in the Middle East – an unapologetic feminist who wants to challenge the way both Arab men and women think. 1/3 Joumana Haddad, author of Superman is an Arab, which attacks Middle Eastern machismo Getty Images. Joumana Haddad's new book, Superman is an Arab, is a polemic about the corrosive effects of macho culture and patriarchal attitudes on the women and the men of the Middle. On the contrary, I admire it. We all believe in something. But we really need to stop parroting words that are empty of meaning, take a look at these institutions and have the courage to ask if this is really what we consider as our ideal, our way of being better. It's beautiful, isn't it? It's about being generous and respecting other people, and being honest and decent. It's about humanity, not about whether you go to the mosque or the synagogue or the church every day. I'm not rubbishing what they may or may not believe, because each person has to find their own way. 1/22/2017 0 Comments Simple Website Contract PdfUse the Website Design Agreement document if: You want to contract a person or company to design and development a website for you. Read 21 Similar Questions that may already have your answer OR. Vivelle-Dot is a patch that contains the estrogen hormone, estradiol. When applied to the skin as directed. After a couple of months on that dose, my hands started swelling and throbbing like a toothache. I started reading everything I could find about swelling, hand pain, and the Vivelle Dot.. Discussed it with some ladies on hystersisters. All the info I read and the advice I was given was that fluid retention was caused from too much estrogen. The Vivelle Dot is a matrix patch so it can be cut. I started reducing my dose by trimming a little off the patch each time I changed it. My symptoms worsened with each cut and I soon felt like I was back to NO estrogen at all. Long story short, doc increased my dose by prescribing a . I felt some better but within a couple of weeks, same thing with the hand pain. Doc took up to the highest dose . When they started to return after a couple of weeks, I added 1/4 of another patch in addition to a whole patch. Tummy bloat went away, hands stopped hurting, legs stopped swelling, muscles relaxed.. I felt the best I had in a very long time. However, I am a bather rather than a shower person. I finally learned that changing my patches every other day offered more consistency. Also, I wore mine on my lower tummy.. I wore them on my backside.. Also, if a patch gets a wrinkle.. I have never worn one that didn't develop a wrinkle even if I placed it on the flattest part of my tummy that I could find. After years of using the V- Dot in the manner I described and sometimes increasing the extra piece up to half of another patch.. April of this year. Also, I'm self pay and the price of mine increased by almost $1. I was getting 1. 6 per month rather than 8 to allow me to add extra pieces and change them more frequently. I tried increasing my dose, decreasing it.. FULL patches.. and I could NOT find a happy place. That's when I decided to try to the pellets. I'm on my second set of inserts and having worse luck with them. My estrogen level got up to 2. I THINK I might have figured out what is going on with the pellets but can't say for sure. I'm also getting testosterone pellets. I've tried compounded T cream a few times over the years and didn't seem to get any results with it and gave up on it.. I think my doc is giving me too my T and not enough E. He had me have them tested 3 X during my first set of pellets and although my levels came back with very different numbers each time, he told me they looked good and I SHOULD be feeling good. IF I decide to get a 3rd st of pellets, I'll have my levels tested right before I go back. If I don't get a 3rd round, I guess I'll try find a happy place with the patch again. I KNOW it's doing something or it wouldn't be helping the way I feel while I'm having to use it to supplement with. I LIKED the patch but learned that I was one of those people that had to tweak my dose from time to time. I learned to recognize when I needed more and less of the patch. I'm lost with these pellets! I'm having symptoms with them of both low and high estrogen. Or, at least the symptoms that I learned to recognize as high or low with the patch. I feel that it HAS to be the testosterone that is messing with me. I hope you feel better. Is your mood change your ONLY symptom? Are you using estrogen only? Or, are you required to us progesterone, too? I don't have a uterus and am very happy about that because Progesterone does NOT agree with me at all! |
